IGNITE THE FREEDOM TO TRUST— in the most important relationship you’ll make in life, the one with yourself.
This painting marks the turning point where you realize that even in your hardest moments, you deserve kindness. You are worthy of trust—trust that one day, you will love every version of yourself.
And if that moment hasn’t come yet, ask yourself: Do the people around you encourage deeper self-love, or do they make you question your own heart?
For me, this wasn’t the moment I stopped welcoming sick relationships into my life. Trauma kept me dissociated, unable to fully digest the love offered to me. When I moved back to Charleston in 2016, ready to get sober, I unconsciously sought out the familiar—I was comfortable in chaos. I felt safest in control, in smallness, in relationships that mirrored my past pain. It took five more years of self-destruction before I finally let go of all mind-altering substances and instantly gratifying behaviors.
How you perceive your own deservingness shapes your relationships, your joy, your financial opportunities, and your optimism. I am still unraveling my own belief system around worthiness. When I don’t feel deserving of love, growth, or abundance, I become stuck in a stagnant darkness. But I’ve learned that the more I affirm my worth, the more life meets me with open doors. Even on the days I don’t fully believe it, shifting my self-talk from doubt to possibility has slowly—very slowly—begun to change how I see myself.
What small action will you take today to step into your own deservingness?
