The wind blows and whistles in my ear as I try to listen to the thoughts in my head. The dense fog surrounds me and moistens the air that goes into my nose. a haze in front of me, and within. Reaching deep to find solid footing, it evades me, as shifty as the sand beneath my feet. I keep walking without direction, with no destination, I want guidance. I don’t know where life goes from here. Is this who I am? Am I heading in the right direction? I kneel as I try to quiet my mind as if in anticipation of something audible. Waves softly crash then rush back out to sea with routine and repetition. Am I out here alone just following after an elusive idea of God, of who I am, or what I am supposed to be doing, fabricated by imagination driven by desire for extraordinary and spiritual experiences? And then, ‘look up’ came to me as if a thought that was placed in my mind. A light from the moon bounced off the ocean like a beam from a lighthouse, the fog was dispersed just enough for me to see this light “just follow the light, you don’t have to know what's in front of you, you will always have this light, as long as you are going towards the light you will be ok.”
