our art is an alternative to self-destruction; it is our chosen medium for self-preservation
Through gemstone-infused concrete and plaster paintings, we narrate resilience—both stone and artist slowly metamorphosing after enduring prolonged periods of darkness, pressure, and tension.
As "visceral home," we are married artists, Taylor (b.1994) and Connor Robinson (b.1992) living in Charleston, SC creating sculptural mixed media artwork. The place we both got sober, where I opened sober living homes, and fought fear together to turn our artistic passions into a career. Our collaborative approach to life and art demonstrates the transformative power of cultivating empathy, breaking down barriers, and restoring trust in romantic, platonic, and familial relationships.
Over the past few years, we have refined our collaborative practice: Connor handcrafts wooden sculptures, furnishings, frames, and surfaces upon which I paint, sculpt, and embroider abstract expressions. Our art embodies a kinship of two distinct processes and personal meditative techniques that ultimately unite to achieve a thoughtfully balanced vision. The interplay between joy, pain, and the yearning for authenticity motivates us to create, continually seeking to spark vulnerable conversation and deepen connection with those who encounter our pieces.
Our combined and individual creative practices embrace an exploration of raw, natural materials juxtaposed with carefully crafted structural elements. From plaster, concrete, and foraged rock pigment to clay, exotic and driftwood, hand-spun yarn, wool, leather, ground gemstones, iron, healing crystals, rust, and sand—our work is a study in contrasts and connections. Every piece is an experiment in layering, blending, and expanding our artistic language, constantly evolving through materials that carry the weight of their origins inscribed in biographies and immortalized in tactility.
