project timeline

1. inquiry:

please fill out the form below. then, if you have photos of the space, and or any additional details (example: renderings of your project) send us in an attachment/ pdf via email at visceralhome@gmail.com. if you are unsure of a size that will compliment your space, we are always happy to send over various options after reviewing photos of the space and dimensions of where the artwork will hang- we would send a few size options and quote for you to choose from.

2. acceptance:

if our commission openings align with the timeline for your project, we are always over-the-moon to take on new custom projects. we will send an invoice detailing the project's total cost and an estimate for shipping. before we begin the commission, a deposit of 50% of the total cost must be paid.

3. process begins:

it's essential to our creative process to gather as much information as possible to create artwork that captures the essence of the space, personality, and design influences. sending photos of where the art will be installed will help us fine-tune the tones within the painting so that they will coordinate with the details of your space fluently. in the same breathe, anchored in individuality ensuring that as time passes, the artwork can and will fit in your evolving space and style. we can jump on a phone call, video consult, or stick to email (your preference) to make decisions about the frame, type of canvas, materials, etc.

4. wrapping up and revisions:

depending on the project, most typically receive 2 process photos to confirm that we are heading in the right direction. revision requests are welcomed and appreciated, within reason. we want you to love your new artwork, and our priority is for you to feel comfortable and stress free. telling us exactly how you are feeling during the process is paramount to the overall result of the work. We have mastered how to balance feedback and staying centered in a meditative creative process. most importantly, before the painting is installed in the frame, we'll ask for one final confirmation before shipment to ensure you love the piece. (note:) Some of our collectors like to be surprised towards the end and open their artwork to experience the final piece in person. Finally, confirm estimated shipping dates to make sure there is someone present for delivery.

5. paid balance & delivery:

once we receive payment for the remaining balance (50%), we will have your new art shipped out to you within 48 hours. unless discussed per collector request. every piece comes with the works biography, list of materials used, and a certificate of authenticity.

important note: we kindly request if you can please send us a quick update once you have unboxed the piece. If the piece will remain in the box as it might be transported to a clients home/commercial property please note the shipping insurance warranty expires after a week from date of delivery.

we begin each project, buying supplies and diving in once we receive the required non-refundable deposit. for those in the *brainstorming* stage, a very rough estimate without knowing the project size- for medium sized works please allow 3-4 weeks. for large or heavily detailed projects between 4-8 weeks.

each project turnaround time is unique and thoughtfully considered to provide the applicant with a precise estimate of completion. we recommend reaching out to inquire about our current turnaround time. if we have the time and you or your client is in a time crunch, we can provide you with a prompt answer if we can take the project or not, only if we are certain to not compromise the quality of the piece. we are completely transparent with our clients, especially if we are already in process with another commission or working on a collection for an exhibition.

notes: we have accepted large commission projects in the past in which we have given the client an accurate reasonable timeframe of when we can have a piece finished, to be met with demands (not questions, or wishful thinking) of finishing before the halfway point, weeks prior to that deadline. rushing our creative process is not only stressful for us, but also puts us in a vulnerable position to not provide our collectors with works we are proud of and represent us fully - not only is the art itself a creative process but building the canvas and frame takes time and skill. we share this as a plea, to understand rushing the process could potentially leave all parties saddened for the intended vision unable to be fully executed.

we are dedicated to provide you with a piece of art to last decades, and exceed your expectations.

some collectors reach out with an exact size for their commissioned work, and some benefit from directly brainstorming with us to decide on the best size for their space.

either way, we are delighted to assist you in selecting the perfect size for your space. to help us best assist you, please provide photos or dimensions of the area where you intend to place the artwork. for example, you can share a picture of the space above a couch, at the end of a hallway above a bench, or provide the exact dimensions of the space where the piece will be hung.

once we have assessed your space and dimensions, and understand your art concept, we will send you a few size options and quotes for you to choose from.

bespoke personalizations

you may be dreaming of a beloved re-envision of a sold piece or considering requesting an entirely bespoke concept. EITHER WAY, NO TWO PIECES ARE the same. your new art will be a one of a kind HANDCRAFTED PIECE by Taylor & Connor robinson of visceral home.

if you found yourself connected to a specific painting and it may have sold or would best fit your space in a different color palette, size, or composition: re-imagining/re-creating the original is a great option. or we can start both a mixture of both, pulling inspiration from an original while creating a completely new concept.

as you ponder what you desire for your custom art, here are some ideas and considerations to help you brainstorm prior to filling out the application:
  • all of our original and commissioned paintings are entirely handcrafted, connor builds each canvas and frame then taylor "paints" them. each piece comes ready to hang. what sets our commission process apart, is that connor can craft any size canvas and frame down to the 0.5 inch. the entire process is completed in our studio.
  • if you are thinking of "recreating" one of our originals, we would love insight into what you love most about the original piece. most importantly, do you wish for us to focus on recreating the original as closely as possible? or is there any modifications you desire?
  • CONSIDER: tone + color profile (muted, natural earth tones from pigment, vivid color from oils, etc.), textural details (reference to details in previous paintings are helpful to envision the texture you desire), fiber components (if desired), emotions you wish to evoke, the atmosphere the piece will live (do you want this piece to make the viewer feel relaxation, curiosity, stimulation, or inspire creativity?), ideal size, and customized framing.

IS THERE ANY OTHER MATERIALS/ MEDIUMS IN OTHER VISCERAL HOME WORKS THAT I MIGHT LIKE TO ADD TO THE COMMISSION?:

CUSTOMIZED FRAMING CONSIDERATIONS:

  • natural wood or stained wood and wood species.
  • shou sugi ban (fire charred oak) reference: "thawing heart"
  • concrete/ plaster covered wood, finished in a limestone wash of your choice (reference "excavated empathy" or "our inner universe"),
  • frame width (the size of the wood that forms the frame) thin, standard, thick. Connor can bevel and
  • rounded corners or square. (reference: still water)
  • mounting: the amount of space between canvas/frame. floating (space between, which can be as dramatic or standard as you wish) or tight to the canvas (no space).
  • depth (how far the frame comes off the wall, think width from wall) he can tailor the wood to be very thin, standard, or very thick,

WHERE IS THIS PIECE GOING?
