defrosting from seasonal depression.

Watercolor on canvas. 36 x 24.

This painting was created in bed. Really, in bed. During some pretty dark seasonal depression. I didn't feel like painting, but I knew I had too to get re-centered. As I was painting it I didn't feel really connected to it in any way. I thought it would end up in the trash. The more layers, and depth I added the more I started to see the beauty in the icebergs forming un intentionally. The rosey colors started looking like sunrise reflecting on melting icebergs and the thought dawned on me "this looks like my seasonal depression defrosting from the new warm sunrises".

Since then it has been one of my favorite pieces. For days after seeing it in that way, I added more and more detail and brighter colors trying to force brightness back into my body and softness onto the canvas.

This piece would be a great addition to any room, adding a pop of color, or highlighting the already colorful room with more of a soft muted earth tone vibe.
