Inspired by our original painting “The Divine Feminine,” this custom creation, "Lakshmi + Durga," is an ode to the yin and yang of feminine energy—strength, motherhood, and warrior spirit. The duality embodied by these two powerful goddesses speaks to the multifaceted nature of womanhood. Durga, the warrior goddess, symbolizes courage and indomitable strength, standing as a fierce protector and embodiment of divine will. Beside her, Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, radiates an aura of abundance and nurturing grace, representing growth, renewal, and the sweetness of life. These two pieces were crafted to be a visceral vessel of feminine empowerment. It was created specifically for a collector who epitomizes motherhood and embodies the essence of feminine strength. It serves as a visual mantra, a sacred space that uplifts and honors the feminine spirit.
The spiritual connection between women—fighting for one another and beside each other—is a force of love that has profoundly shaped my healing journey. Witnessing a woman navigate challenges that could shatter her, yet finding her standing tall and unyielding, is a cherished honor. This painting captures that essence: the necessity of unity, resilience, and the transformative power of feminine strength.
Durga represents the protective power and courage in nature, a force like a roaring military band that cuts through the noise of adversity. Lakshmi, in contrast, is the beauty and abundance found in the richness of life. She is present in the fragrance of flowers, the lushness of green forests, the nurturing flow of water, and the harmonious music of the earth. Lakshmi is the sweetness of existence—like Mozart to the ears or the soft sensation of water slipping through fingers. Together, Durga and Lakshmi act together in symmetrical feminine energy—a dance of power, grace, protection, and prosperity.
With the softness of wool intertwined with rugged leather, armor of concrete I wished to explore the inner landscape of motherhood, to embrace both the fierce and the nurturing aspects of their spirit, and to find balance in their strength and softness. It is a celebration of the divine feminine and a tribute to the relentless power of womanhood in all its forms.
